This role is responsible for the commercial leadership of our fledgling specialist immunology services business; tasked with gaining clients and growing our revenue base.

Role Description:

  • Develop and maintain our sales pipeline. Generation of a target list, informed by networking and leads from marketing activities. Work the target list and build a balanced pipeline of opportunities at various stages of the sales funnel, so that we build a growing book of businesses balanced to our capacity.

  • Responsible for costing and quoting work for potential clients and negotiating contracts for won business; ensuring that other stakeholders are consulted along the way.

  • Understand our win/loss rate and how we are comparing to the competition.

  • Maintain client relationships, leading to satisfied customers and recurring revenue.

  • Lead our marketing strategy; develop a brand name and brand identity, select and hone our customer value proposition, decide on the right promotional tools, execute the promotional strategy.

  • Assist other workstreams in order to promote overall success of this immunology service. For example; assisting in partner lab training/oversight, assist in logistics set-up or issue resolution.

  • Participate in the evolution of the business strategy; including our product offering, our communication over our value proposition, branding, marketing, sales targeting, pricing and our business processes.

Role Specific skills and Experience

  • Relevant degree in business, marketing and/or life sciences

  • >5 years experience in complex sales in one or more of the life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical device, diagnostics or contract research organization industries; where the sales involves multiple buying stakeholders

  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral

  • Demonstrated success in winning contracts of significant value; delivering the contracted products/services and generating recurring revenue/repeat business

  • Prior experience of operational delivery of solutions

  • Wider business experience is highly desirable: for example, forecasting, sales pipeline analysis, sales targeting, financial analysis, customer services, project management

  • Prior marketing experience highly desirable

  • Prior experience selling services to B2B clients high desirable

  • Experience in managing a project team towards a common goal

  • Strong relationship building skills across functions and geographic cultures; ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, whilst managing conflicts.

Environmental Factors

Expected to be up to 50% travel to visit clients, attend conferences and visit trial sites or partner labs. Global travel will form part of this.
