Job Summary

This position conducts antibody characterizations and supports enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoassay (LPX) product development. This position will be responsible for effectively communicating and summarizing experimental data. The Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of the product development processes including designing, initiating, testing and troubleshooting.

More specifically, he/ she will be working with an experienced scientist on testing new hybridoma clones, performing characterization of monoclonal antibodies using ELISA and LPX procedures, maintaining a clear notebook, producing data figures, performing calculations and preparing and qualifying the raw materials used for hybridoma screen and new immunoassay product development.

He or she will be able to manage the assigned function and tasks with great communication skills in a timely manner with independence after appropriate training.

  • Under guidance of senior personnel, design and conduct research and experiments in feasibility, optimization, and validation for ELISA product development.
  • Under proper supervision, execute the following development tasks: evaluating antibodies and screening antibody pairs. Optimize assay conditions, troubleshoot, and design relative biological experiments to validate the utility of the new products.
  • Complete all documentation, including project conceptual design, batch records, experimental data, and Clarity.  
  • Collaborate with other product development Research Associates and Scientists to provide project updates, to establish project timelines and to assist completion of product development documentation.
  • Provide data-driven updates and collaborate with SD ELISA/ LPX PD teams throughout the product development process.
  • Conduct project-related information searches and literature searches.
  • Operate lab instruments according to procedures. Prepare reagents as required
  • Contribute to scientific discussions and collaborations and present results.
  • Apply knowledge of scientific principles and concepts to the design, development, and execution of experiments.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • BS or MS in Biological Sciences (e.g. biology, biotechnology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry), or related field.

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Working knowledge of immunoassay methods used for protein analysis such as biomarkers, with hands-on experience in immunoassay development and optimization or other functional assays preferred.
  • Working experience in a manufacturing or product development setting in compliance with ISO9001/ISO14835 standards would be a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Lab

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
