Job Summary

This position conducts antibody characterizations and supports product development in Immunology, Oncology, Steam Cells, and Neuroscience and entails various antibody applications including Western blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), etc. The Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of the product development processes including designing, initiating, testing, and troubleshooting. This position will be responsible for effectively communicating and summarizing experimental data. More specifically, he/she will be working with an experienced scientist on testing new hybridoma clones, performing characterization of monoclonal antibodies, maintaining a clear notebook, producing data figures, preparing and qualifying the raw materials used for hybridoma screen and new product development. He or she will be able to manager the assigned function and tasks with great communication skills in a timely manner with independence after appropriate training.

Essential Functions

  • Support new product development and testing required in a manner compliant with the ISO13485 quality management system.
  • Perform aseptic mammalian cell culture. Isolate primary cells and tissues and prepare lysates, cells, and tissues for antibody testing.
  • Characterize antibodies by various applications including Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry, etc.
  • Analyze and summarize data with high attention to detail in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complete all documentation, including worksheets, batch records, and experimental data. 
  • Collaborate with other product development Research Associates and Scientists to provide project updates, to establish project timelines, and to assist completion of product development documentation.
  • Prioritize daily tasks to be able to work both independently as well as part of a team. Keep organized with attention to detail and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple work streams.
  • Perform lab tasks, and maintain equipment and laboratory supplies as needed. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory.
  • Support laboratory personnel training as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience or other related field
  • Master’s degree in a scientific field or at least 1 year of relevant experience in an Academic or industrial setting.
  • Experience using MS office

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Experience with aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture is a plus.
  • Experience with two antibody applications used for antibody characterization
  • Working experience in a manufacturing or product development settling in compliance with ISO 9001/ISO 14835 standards
